As the domestic blueberry season winds down, our South American volumes will ramp up. Our first Argentine blueberries landed this week, and while we expect limited supplies in the near term, we're anticipating great fruit this season — and greater volumes soon!

Following the discovery of the European grapevine moth, the USDA/PPQ created a federal order that ultimately put a halt to all vessel fruit out of three of the largest berry growing regions in Chile (about 80% total volumes to the U.S.). The federal order mandates that all blueberries grown in regions 6, 7, and 8 be fumigated before export to the U.S. Any fruit from other growing regions is subject to strenuous inspections both upon shipping and arrival, so delays are expected.

VANCOUVER, B.C.— Two seasoned sales and marketing experts recently joined the ranks at the Oppenheimer Group.
Rob Campbell returned to Oppy as a Newark, Del.-based sales representative following eight years spent acquiring sales and procurement expertise in the berry category, among others. Campbell’s association with the company began in the late 1990s when he led a Zespri kiwifruit sampling team throughout the Eastern U.S. He also worked for Oppy in a quality control capacity for four years starting in 2001.
