Oppy people pedal for school salad bars
Next month, Organics Category Manager Chris Ford and Corporate Communications Director Karin Gardner return to the Tour de Fresh, a 4-day, 285 mile cycling event that raises funds for school salad bars. Wearing JAZZ apple colors, they will be joined by T&G’s Chris Willett, forming a speedy trio committed to building the JAZZ apple brand while bringing more fresh produce into the hands of students in underserved areas.
Cyclists from all over the industry join together in this very meaningful enterprise, with last year’s ride raising over $170,000. When more fresh fruits and vegetables are available to young people, good habits start at an early age, creating healthier futures while sustaining growers like Oppy over time.
“I’m proud to be participating in my fourth Tour de Fresh this year, and personally raising over $10,000 to support the Salad Bars to Schools initiative in that time,” Chris Ford said. “There’s nothing more important than giving children better access to fresh, healthy food.”
If you’d like to help bring more salad bars to schools, the riders would welcome your support. Donations can be made here.
And, did you know that Oppy generously matches employee donations to non-profit entities up to $50? Please follow this link to the HR section of the Intranet and select the Charitable Donation Gift Matching Approval Form should you wish to match a contribution.
Thank you!
