With the help of many San Diego County fire fighters, Oceanside Pole tomatoes remain untouched by the wildfires ravaging the area. Back fires were started at the perimeter of the field, buring all the vegetation fueling the fire. There still are fires burning in San Diego but nothing that seems to be an immediate risk to the farm. Temperatures are mercifully dropping into the 70s this week.
The cherries at Orchard View Farms are grown within sight of two great Oregon peaks, Mount Hood and Mount Adams. With the Columbia River running alongside, these cherries have it good.

Mother's Day Roses
Pacific Rose apples are pretty, pink and very promotable for Mother's Day. Refreshing and sweet, they are the perfect guilt-free Mother's Day treat.
Pacific Rose apples are available from Washington state through May in both 40 lb boxes and 27 lb closed top Euros.

RR1 is a new variety plum that has brix levels as high as 19 at harvest (average range is 17-19). It features a yellow flesh that changes to light red as it ripens.
