Oppy honored for business excellence
Vancouver, BC ― Just as many of The Oppenheimer Group’s domestic deals―like Oregon cherries, California vine-ripe tomatoes and BC blueberries―roll into full swing, the leading fresh produce marketer and distributor has received prestigious recognition on the international stage.
Acquisitions International Magazine has named Oppy among the winners of its Business Excellence Awards for 2014 as Produce Distributor of the Year―Canada.
The peer-nominated honor recognizes high-performing companies throughout the world for their success and innovation.
“It is certainly a compliment to have been chosen,” said John Anderson, Oppy’s chairman, president and CEO. “As our business continues to grow overseas through our export programs, we are well-positioned for the opportunities ahead. This kind of international recognition can help make our name and the services we offer more familiar in new markets.”
Such 2013 highlights as Oppy’s joint venture with Total Produce, the introduction of North America’s first Fair Trade Certified pepper program from Sun Select and the launch of new products like the Papple and the RR1 plum were among the achievements that set the company apart, Anderson said.
The Business Excellence Award is one of many that Oppy has achieved in recent years. Most notably, the company has been selected as one of Canada’s Best Managed Companies since 2001, and has been a member of its esteemed platinum club since 2008.
