Oppy brings fresh energy to CPMA Fresh Week
From exciting partnership announcements to meaningful industry connections, Oppy had an impactful week in Toronto.
This year’s trade show was CPMA’s largest to date, bringing together more than 4,600 attendees and over 700 exhibitors from around the world for a week of networking, innovation and celebration across the produce industry.
The week began with Vice President of Supply Chain and Logistics Stewart Lapage, Director of Supply Chain Goran Adzic, Marketing and Communications Specialist Sandra Ulewicz and Sustainability Lead Angela Chan arriving early to participate in CPMA board and committee meetings, continuing Oppy’s longstanding commitment to supporting the association and the industry at large. Sales Manager Sean McCauley and Sales Representative Adriana Herrera attended the CPMA Directors and New Members’ Reception on Monday evening, connecting with industry peers and welcoming new faces to the organization.
Packaging & Private Label Project Manager Joan Wu was selected as one of just 20 participants from 60 applicants for CPMA’s highly regarded Passion for Produce program, gaining valuable industry insight while building connections with fellow emerging leaders from across North America. Director of Business Implementation Projects Bilkis Laher was recognized during the week as one of Grocery Business’ Outstanding Women in Produce, an honor celebrating her leadership, contributions and impact across the produce industry.
Oppy also helped support the next generation of produce leaders during the convention. Chairman, CEO & Managing Partner John Anderson sponsored four students from the University of the Fraser Valley to attend, offering them firsthand exposure to the industry and its many career opportunities. Senior Executive Assistant Dee Homsavath spent time guiding the students throughout the show, introducing them to industry members and giving them an inside look at the people, partnerships and possibilities that make the produce business so unique.
The students shared how much they enjoyed the experience, noting how welcoming and approachable everyone was throughout the week. They especially appreciated the time Oppy team members took to speak with them about their career paths, day-to-day roles and experiences in the industry, offering valuable insight and advice as they explore their own futures in produce.
Throughout the week, Oppy’s booth served as a vibrant hub for meetings, conversations and collaboration. Our grower partners were proudly showcased across the space, including Zespri, Envy apples, Sun Grape, Orchard View Cherries, UP Vertical Farms, Perpetual Vegetable Co., OriginO, Dole, Ocean Spray, Avoworks and Eco Farms.
CPMA also provided the perfect stage to share exciting company news: Oppy’s new partnership as the exclusive Canadian distributor for Australian Sumo citrus. Director of Marketing Kelsey Van Lissum coordinated a lineup of journalists eager to meet Greg Asta from AC Foods to launch and celebrate the announcement.
Oppy’s presence extended well beyond the trade show floor. Crisp Envy apples were donated to the Healthy Break Area, where Sandra Ulewicz and Kelsey Van Lissum volunteered during the week, helping fuel attendees while giving back to the convention experience.
As longtime banquet sponsors, Oppy once again helped close out the week in memorable fashion. Guests enjoyed a banquet menu featuring product courtesy of UP Vertical Farms, OriginO and Perpetual Vegetable Co. Director of Sales Steve Young addressed the crowd before showcasing a video produced by Graphic Designer & Videographer Alleanna Barrera, celebrating the strength of the produce industry and the partnerships that continue to drive it forward.
CPMA festivities concluded with the second annual Women in Produce Summit, a day dedicated to lifting up women in the industry with opportunities to network and develop leadership skills. Oppy attendees included Bilkis Laher and Sales Representative Sarah Taylor, while Sandra Ulewicz served as this year’s emcee for the event.
A heartfelt thank you to everyone who helped make CPMA 2026 a success. We’re proud to support this incredible industry and are already looking forward to welcoming everyone to our home turf of Vancouver in 2027!
