Overview

In your role as our Senior Technical Analyst, your mission is to navigate the complexities of our existing systems, infused with a mix of on-premises and cloud infrastructure. You’ll have the exciting opportunity to shape the future of our technology stack, making it robust, future-ready to support our dynamic business needs. You will share the administrative responsibility for ensuring our datacenter hardware and software operate effectively. Your primary focus is to be our technical subject matter expert on all aspects of Microsoft Windows server/client endpoint management, including a handful of high-performance mission-critical Linux bare metal and virtual servers. Plus, you’ll be there taking part in providing support to our end-users, making sure they stay happily connected.

Accountabilities

  • Responsible for all aspects of Microsoft Windows Server and Client management.
  • Responsible for administrating bare metal and virtual Linux servers, including compute, backend storage, and connectivity.
  • Responsible for configuration management, application deployments and updates, OS upgrades, security, and urgent patching.
  • Shared responsibility in general management of all servers, infrastructure hardware and supporting tools/technologies.
  • Perform daily infrastructure dashboard monitoring and server/client health checks, and provide weekly KPI status reports
  • Assess existing platforms, design future state, and build transition in order to migrate both applications and infrastructure to highly resilient environments
  • Identify and troubleshoot server and application performance issues, provide root cause analysis in determining issue resolutions.
  • Lead software and hardware upgrade projects from planning to execution in a 24x7x365 production environment.
  • Take part in or lead Disaster Recovery exercises.
  • Provide comprehensive technical support in-person, over the phone, or email.
  • Ability to work after-hours and participate in 24/7 on-call rotation.
  • Ability to provide 24×7 response for high-severity incidents related to critical infrastructure.

Required Knowledge & Abilities

  • Knowledge of industry best practices and staying up to date in the technology space.
  • In-depth working experience with bare metal and virtual Windows and Linux servers and hardware, including backend storage and inter-connectivity.
  • In-depth working experience with endpoint management tech, including Configuration Manager (MECM) and co-management with Intune, Autpoilot, Autopatch, PXE, BitLocker, AppLocker, and PatchMyPC.
  • In-depth working experience with hybrid Azure AD environments with on-premises Active Directory services, including DNS, DHCP, LDAP, PKI, and Group Policy.
  • In-depth working experience with Microsoft on-prem tech, including Windows 11, Windows Server 2019+, IIS, and SQL.
  • Experience with enterprise hardware such as IBM P Series, IBM Flash System, Pure FlashArray, Brocade SAN Switches, and Dell PowerEdge servers.
  • Good understanding of storage concepts such as LUNs, snapshots, and RAID.
  • Experience with scripting languages (BASH, Python, PowerShell) and the ability to automate repetitive tasks.
  • Experience with Microsoft cloud tech, including Entra ID, Single Sign-On, Exchange Online, Teams, and SharePoint.
  • Experience with VMWare vSphere Virtualization (ESXi/vCenter).
  • Experience with managing basic web servers (IIS, Apache, NGINX), Cloudflare WAF, DNS, and WordPress CMS is an asset.
  • Experience with enterprise backup and recovery solutions, such as Veeam or CommVault is an asset.
  • Experience with monitoring tools such as Nagios, Check_MK, Veeam ONE is an asset.
  • You have excellent communication skills, both oral and written, with strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • You pay close attention to detail, and as far as you’re concerned, anything worth doing should be done right.
  • Possess a high degree of patience, thoroughness, and accuracy.
  • Analytical abilities to identify and review problem situations, make independent decisions, and recommend solutions.
  • Ability to work on many projects simultaneously and be flexible with changing priorities.
  • Ability to diagnose and resolve complex problems utilizing systematic and methodical problem-solving skills with the ability to recognize when additional assistance is needed and/or advisable.
  • Ability to adapt to new environments, and the ability to identify, propose and implement changes and improvements.
  • Ability to work on large projects while maintaining day-to-day responsibilities.
  • Strong work-ethic, flexibility, self-driven, and a team player.
  • Eager to learn new skills, commitment to continuous learning, and keen to impart expertise across the team.

Required Qualifications

  • Post-Secondary degree or diploma in a technical field, such as Information Technology or Computer Science.
  • Minimum, five (5) years of recent and related experience working in a complex computing environment.
  • Certifications in Linux (RHCSA, LPIC-2), Microsoft (Associate level or higher) or equivalent.
  • Ability to travel within Canada and the USA as requested.
  • Valid Driver’s License required.
  • Valid work authorization, Canadian citizen, or a Canadian Permanent Resident.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
