What You Will Be Doing

Reporting to the Category Director, you will play an essential role in supporting the strategic priorities of the assigned category while driving collaboration between external and internal contacts. You will be accountable for ensuring all parties have access to timely information, analyzing sales and forecast data and executing on elements of tactical category plans. You’ll also maintain stellar working relationships in a rapidly changing, high-pressure environment.

You will:

  • Ensure that all internal stakeholders receive timely and accurate information and analysis on relevant sales, market, inventory and pricing for the category to facilitate effective management and decision-making to increase profitability to growers while meeting the needs of our retail customers.
  • Assist with various aspects of the category management function, including planning, inventory movement, import/export, product availability and pricing.
  • Work with the Category Director to establish and monitor achievement of sales objectives in accordance with sales and marketing plans and performance indicators.
  • Collaborate/communicate with sales team members to proactively sell the product prior to the season via pre-programmed sales and work to maximize in-season sales.
  • Liaise with growers to forecast the sizes, varieties and amounts of product available to the market.
  • Coordinate with quality control, inventory and operations to facilitate information flow and address issues as needed and escalate complex issues to the Category Director.
  • Maintain regular grower communication, ensuring optimal information exchange and establishing strong, collaborative grower relationships.
  • Prepare and/or analyze category pre-season, in-season and post-season reports on relevant category activities.
  • Solicit information for assigned accounts as needed, and/or establish and maintain business relationships with customers.

  • You are tech-savvy and your knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Word and PowerPoint is intermediate to advanced.
  • Your coworkers compliment your eagle-eye for detail and ability to analyze large amounts of information, which you use to develop effective solutions and monitor outcomes.
  • You’re highly organized with the ability to successfully function under a fast-paced, dynamic environment while handling multiple tasks and projects.

Ideal Qualifications

  • Degree, diploma in business or related field or a combination of equivalent education and experience; agribusiness experience is an asset.
  • Minimum, 1-2 years of successful and proven experience in inventory, sales or commodity coordination, or equivalent experience.
