Orchard View kicks off cherry season with export honor

Oregon grower named Global Trailblazer by Oregon Consular Corps

Orchard View Cherries, a fourth-generation grower based in The Dalles, Oregon, is gearing up for a promising 2026 season, with harvest anticipated in the second week of June following a favorable growing cycle. The company expects to pack approximately 1.2 million boxes of premium cherries this season.

As preparations ramp up in the orchards, Orchard View is also set to receive the prestigious Global Trailblazer Award from the Oregon Consular Corps in mid-May. The award honors Oregon-based companies that demonstrate exceptional contributions to international trade, the regional economy and overall quality of life.

Orchard View has cultivated strong export partnerships across numerous Asian markets over the years, an essential component of its business. However, the company is particularly enthusiastic about the upcoming domestic season.

“With beautiful cherries on the trees and positive growing conditions behind us, we’re incredibly excited about the season ahead,” said Brenda Thomas, president of Orchard View Cherries. “Our team is always committed to delivering an amazing cherry experience from orchard to table, and this year is no exception.”

Thanks to a unique range of microclimates matched carefully with specific cherry varieties, Orchard View consistently produces fruit known for its superb sweetness and flavor. The season will begin with Chelans, Pearls and Santinas, followed by the iconic Bing variety.

Recent updates to the company’s Unitec sorting technology will further enhance consistency, quality and uniformity across all packs. Orchard View offers flexible packaging options, including bags and top seal formats, to meet diverse retail needs.

“Orchard View continues to set the standard for premium cherries,” said Piers Hanbury, executive director of cherries and category development at Oppy. “We’re confident this will be another excellent crop, delivering the high-quality eating experience customers expect.”

With nearly all fruit grown within a 15-minute drive of the company’s packing facility, Orchard View ensures optimal freshness, with most cherries shipped within a day of harvest.

The 2026 Orchard View Cherries season is expected to conclude by the end of July.

“Don’t miss out on the unique opportunity to stock the very best cherries grown in the sweet spot of this truly remarkable region,” Hanbury urged.
