Oppy named Best Managed for 15 straight
Every year for the last decade and a half, The Oppenheimer Group has been honored as one of Canada’s Best Managed companies, and 2016 is no exception. When the winners were announced today, Oppy was also named to the Best Managed Platinum Club for the ninth time.
Sponsored by Deloitte, CIBC, National Post, Queen’s School of Business and MacKay CEO Forums, Canada’s Best Managed Companies program recognizes organizations that have implemented world class business practices and created value in innovative ways. The Platinum Club honors top-performing companies that earn a place among the best for six years or more.
“Fifteen years is a long time to sustain the excellent results and the positive culture that earn a company this kind of recognition,” said John Anderson, chairman president and CEO. “I’m very proud of the whole Oppy team and the way everyone contributes day in and day out to our continued success.”
Best Managed applications are reviewed annually by an independent judging panel that evaluates how companies address various business challenges, including new technologies, globalization, brand management, leadership, leveraging and developing core competencies, designing information systems and hiring the right talent to facilitate growth.
The 2016 accolades announced today recognize Oppy’s 2015 achievements. Anderson points to several highlights that set the company apart last year, including creating a solid foothold for Zespri SunGold Kiwifruit throughout North America, establishing strong retail and consumer loyalty for Envy™ apples, and bringing its first ever large-scale South African citrus program into the U.S. The company also focused on technology integration with key growers, staff recognition, and re-launched its corporate university, Oppy U.
“Ultimately, though, it all comes down to our expect the world from us promise,” Anderson said. “It’s a commitment we all make, and it’s what helps us succeed in the often unpredictable climate of our industry. It’s a credit to everyone at Oppy that we’ve been recognized as Best Managed yet again.”
