Day in the Life of… Grower Accountant Raylene Veleta

Raylene Veleta heard about Oppy through her previous workplace, a cold storage service that Oppy worked with in Exeter, California. When Amy Bianchi was looking to fill an open position, she connected with Raylene’s manager. Without any hesitation, Raylene was referred for the job. Thankful for her blessings and for her manager’s referral, Raylene’s journey with Oppy started in April, 2015.

She began as an inventory coordinator, moved into an accounting assistant role and now works as a grower accountant, a great growth arc for her career. Every day looks different for Raylene thanks to the variety of tasks she is responsible for, which always keeps things interesting. On top of finalizing deal settlements and preparing and submitting grower wire payments on a daily basis, she also coordinates citrus and stone fruit deals. Most recently, she also started working on the South American Ocean Spray deal. As a member of the Women in Leadership at Oppy (WILO) committee, she proudly represents the Visalia office.

Born and raised in Exeter, California, Raylene married her husband 16 years ago and together they raise four daughters aged from six to 16. They keep busy with a wide range of sports and activities, including softball, volleyball, flag football and more. Adapting to the recent changes with COVID-19 and to the slower pace of life, Raylene is thankful for the quality time that she is now able to enjoy with her family. On the weekends, it wouldn’t be surprising to find them at the beach, camping or at a family BBQ.

As part of the Oppy family, Raylene is grateful for all the life-long friendships she’s gained while working here. As a fun side-project, she enjoys coordinating the office Christmas parties and summer picnics.

Raylene thrives on self-improvement; “There is always something new to learn,” she said. Looking ahead, she hopes to continue pursuing personal and professional growth well into the future.
