Ideas in action
As a company with over 165 years behind it, we have first-hand, multi-generational experience with sustainability business practices. Oppy is committed to quantifying the environmental impacts of its supply chain, identifying opportunities that implement meaningful reductions.

Planting our best foot forward
With so many opportunities to reduce waste and conserve resources across our vast supply chain, we prioritize changes that have the greatest impact — and continue to search for more.
Current sustainability projects
- Obtain third-party integrated pest management certification for 100% of our produce by 2027
- Aim to use more than 50% post-consumer recycled plastic in as many Oppy SKUs as possible
- Expanding sustainable packaging solutions including recyclable, biodegradable and compostable bags
- Increase freight transported by SmartWay-certified carriers from 14% to 20% by 2026
- Further diverting food waste and packaging materials, and enacting circular systems through our collaboration with Rios Organics
- Strive for zero waste operations by 2028
Technology
All facets of our business are linked through a custom communications network called Optimo, Oppy’s proprietary system that supports virtually every aspect of operations. From planning to case code tracking and traceability, we are aware of what works and continually update procedures to improve the way we operate.
