Camposol exports first Peruvian blueberries to Canada
Last week, leading Peruvian grower-exporter Camposol became the first to ship blueberries to Canada, following the announcement opening the market to blues grown in the Andean country earlier this month.
Lima-based Camposol, along with marketing partner Oppy, is excited to have attained this milestone. Together they are enthusiastic about the opportunity it represents, not only to fans of the highly nutritious, popular berries in Canada, but also to the people of Peru, according to Javier Morales, Camposol’s general manager, fruits and vegetables.
“We are proud to be the first exporters of Peruvian blueberries to Canada,” he said. “This achievement, which is not only Camposol’s—but indeed our entire country’s—is extremely gratifying.”
The berries were dispatched September 22 and are now available to consumers in Western Canada. The shipment originated in Chao, Peru, where it was attended by National Service of Agrarian Sanitation (Senasa) authorities.
“The future for blueberries in Peru is very promising,” Morales said. “We anticipate that by 2018, 3,000 acres will be in production. Camposol is prepared for this great challenge, which means an increase in job opportunities and a better quality of life for as many as 10,000 Peruvian people.”

Oppy markets blueberries grown in Canada, the U.S., Mexico, Uruguay, Chile, Argentina, and now Peru, in season.
