Day in the life… of Cassandra Slavens, Category Coordinator – Berries
Cassandra was born and raised in Lompoc, California before moving to Santa Maria just four years ago when she started her career in produce. She joined Rincon Fresh, California’s largest family-owned berry farm, starting in compliance, then working her way up to the sales team.
When Rincon Fresh entered a joint venture with Oppy in December 2016, Cassandra moved from her role in sales to her current position as berry category coordinator. Cassandra characterizes our berry business as a growing category within Oppy, and she enjoys the new challenges and experiences each day brings. She notes that every day is fast-paced and forever evolving. One of Cassandra’s favorite projects has been helping get our new Ocean Spray Family Farmer Owned™ label off the ground.
Married in June 2017, Cassandra, her husband Mike, and their dog Daisy live in Santa Maria where they love to travel and enjoy the California sunshine.
Cassandra says working with Oppy in just a few short months has been a life-changing experience. “Being part of the Oppy culture pushes me to continue to grow the berry category,” she adds.
