Day in the life… of Accounts Payable Coordinator, Louis Pontellini
Louis was born in New Westminster, BC — as he likes to call it, the “City of Champions.” He attended Simon Fraser University to receive a Bachelor of Arts in history and went on to British Columbia Institute of Technology for their accounting program. Louis worked at a mill and in construction before his first accounting jobs at Jerome Music and Eaton’s.
In 1982 when there were about 30 total people employed at the Vancouver Oppy office on Cornett Road, Louis was hired into the accounting department. Today, 34 years later, the accounting team alone has over 30 people.
Among many other day-to-day tasks, Louis processes invoices from all North American offices, takes BDR requests to issue payments and works with sales on resolving quality issues with financial implications.
Louis and his wife of soon-to-be 35 years have two daughters in their late 20s and a cat named Toby. They took a lovely trip to Waskesiu in Prince Albert National Park, Saskatchewan last summer for a family reunion. Louis values the strong company culture Oppy fosters and knows it will continue with great optimism.
