The Opportunity

Please Note: On-site attendance is required 5 days (full-time) week for this role.

Responsibilities

  • Manages the work unit performance in accordance with company standards and performance expectations. Ensures optimal scheduling for coverage and approves hours worked.
  • Uses independent discretion and judgment in managing team dynamics, resolving team matters, and making employment-related decisions, including hiring, discipline, and termination, in compliance with company policies and labor laws.
  • Directs and oversees multi-site warehouse operations, ensuring the efficient execution of multiple concurrent repack projects. This role requires travel between warehouse locations as necessary to maintain workflow consistency and operational excellence.
  • Maintains oversight of inventory levels to ensure all required materials for repackaging projects are available, minimizing shortages and downtime. Works proactively to maintain stock above minimum levels to support continuous operations.
  • Oversees repack operations to ensure strict adherence to food safety handling guidelines, industry best practices, and regulatory requirements. Enforces compliance with HACCP, GMPs, and FSMA regulations.
  • Promotes and enforces a culture of workplace safety, ensuring adherence to all OSHA, Cal/OSHA, and company-specific safety policies. Identifies potential hazards, takes corrective action, and leads initiatives to enhance overall workplace safety and injury prevention.
  • Leads the recruitment, onboarding, and continuous development of team members. Implements structured training programs, performance coaching, and professional growth initiatives to foster a positive, customer-focused, and team-oriented culture.
  • Drives a customer-first culture by ensuring internal and external customers receive responsive, high-quality service in line with company values and strategic objectives.
  • Engages with third-party partners to negotiate fair market pricing, ensuring cost-effective solutions for outsourced services while maintaining operational efficiency and quality.
  • Maintains detailed and accurate billing records, verifying that order payments are processed correctly and in accordance with company accounting procedures. Exercises discretion in resolving discrepancies and approving adjustments as needed.
  • Identifies and implements process improvements to enhance warehouse efficiency, reduce operational costs, and optimize resource utilization without compromising quality or compliance.

Required Competencies

  • Ability to exercise independent judgment in managing a team, operational priorities, and process improvements.
  • Expertise in overseeing multi-site warehouse logistics, repack processes, and production workflows with minimal supervision.
  • Strong understanding of food safety (HACCP, GMPs, FSMA), and food handling regulations to ensure compliance with safety and operational standards.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and adaptability in managing challenges in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment.
  • Financial oversight skills, including billing accuracy, cost control, and vendor contract negotiations to ensure fiscal accountability.
  • Effective communication skills for coordinating operations with internal teams and external stakeholders to maintain seamless workflow and business alignment.
  • Proficiency in inventory monitoring, material planning, and supply chain coordination to optimize efficiency.
  • Skilled in identifying inefficiencies, implementing cost-saving initiatives, and ensuring continuous process enhancements.
  • Attention to detail in maintaining accurate records related to inventory, billing, and compliance documentation for financial and operational integrity.
  • Proficiency in ERP systems, production planning software, and Microsoft Office Suite for reporting, scheduling, and workflow management.
  • Customer-focused approach with strong vendor management skills to ensure service excellence and operational success.
  • Ability to handle and prioritize multiple concurrent activities while maintaining a sense of urgency and meeting target goals.
  • Adaptable to shifting priorities and quickly changing situations

 

Required Qualifications

  • Degree, diploma in manufacturing, operations or business management, food science or a related field
  • 3-6 years of successful and proven experience in manufacturing/warehouse management and/or in the produce industry,
  • Completion of First Aid course and/or other safety and health/food safety certifications is an asset
  • Produce industry knowledge preferred
