Day in the life… of Sales Assistant Alejandra Valadez

Moving to the United States when she was 15, Alejandra was born in Guadalajara, Mexico. She attended the University of Massachusetts to pursue a degree in psychology then switched majors to attend the University of Houston and graduated with a bachelor’s degree in business administration and marketing.

Most of her professional experience was within the real estate industry as she worked for a mortgage company through college and was recruited by a firm just before she graduated. Working as a client services and event specialist, Alejandra was responsible for high-level client management and marketing. “While real estate was a fascinating industry, I didn’t feel challenged enough. Feeling challenged at work fuels my enjoyment and passion for what I do. I was ready to pursue something different and learn some new skills,” she said.

Joining the Houston office last September, Alejandra claims that there is no regular day at Oppy having said, “There is always something new coming up, new fires to put out, new things to learn and I love that!” Her main responsibilities are setting up and booking orders for the sales team and resolving trouble files alongside her colleagues. While admitting trouble files can be tedious, she said they have helped her better understand the steps involved in bringing product to market.

Alejandra tries to visit family in Mexico frequently, and travels somewhere new any chance she gets. One of her three siblings gave birth to a baby boy in June and she couldn’t be happier. She also enjoys indoor cycling and yoga, and is a fruit and vegetables fanatic.

Alejandra is thankful and excited to be part of such an amazing company and hopes to join an Ocean Spray bog tour this season.
